Listening to and Elevating Multicultural Communities: The Case for Equity during COVID-19: Recent widespread reports and data reveals that the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacts racially and ethnically diverse communities. This virtual workshop is designed for students seeking to understand how communities of color in Utah are affected by and are responding to the pandemic. Using the Multicultural Needs in Utah During COVID-19 report released in April 2020 as a baseline, students will have the opportunity to compile case studies, conduct interviews with front-line service organizations, inventory existing resources, and identify how service providers (state agencies, federal agencies, non-profits, etc.) can better assist communities during this time. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in a guest lecture series composed of local practitioners and state leaders that center equity and justice in their profession.
