Seminar
Description
This seminar's focus will be on understanding IS research and the research ideation process. The seminar will have students develop a research plan and identify two potential good research ideas. Students will learn how to evaluate research ideas and reject ideas as early as possible without a high sunk cost. Students will study how to assess contribution, identification strategy, heterogeneity, and trade-offs that make a research question worth pursuing. Students would survey papers from top-tier IS journals, papers on a research method of their choice, and papers in a research stream they hope to contribute. They will need to make presentations on survey findings and identified research questions.
