Description
This course introduces application of the occupational therapy process with the pediatric population. The course explores occupational development of children as well as common conditions impacting occupational performance. Students are introduced to skills required for working with children and families, as well as service delivery teams, in a wide range of pediatric settings. Emphasis is placed on teaching students’ occupational performance analysis skills in pediatrics and introduces administration and interpretation of commonly used developmental assessments, resulting in students’ ability to conduct a comprehensive pediatric occupational therapy evaluation, write an evaluation report, and craft occupation-centered goals. Theories and conceptual models related to pediatric practice, as well as policies and ethical standards, will also be introduced.
