Description
This course is about ecological constraints on female reproductive biology and child health. It focuses on how parenting behaviors have evolved over the course of human evolution. It investigates mammalian reproductive strategies, energetic costs of pregnancy and lactation, and cross-cultural variation in female fertility rates and child survival. Anthropology 5433 is designed for advanced undergraduate students (Juniors and Seniors) and graduate students who have taken at least one course in human evolution and who know how to write a research paper.
