Description
Unified treatment of the equations describing momentum, energy, mass, and population balances. Emphasis is on thinking analytically about solving new problems rather than on finding specific solutions. Problem synthesis and analysis are covered. Specific topics include (1) how to solve classic prototype problems that shed light on the relationship between a physical problem and a mathematical equation; (2) how to use scaling analysis to identify controlling phenomena, and (3) how to make radical approximations to render intractable problems tractable.
