CVP 6550 - Mechanical Circulatory Support

This course is designed to give students a more in-depth look at mechanical circulatory support including the devices used, indications for support, variations in configurations, and more. With increased utilization and reliance on mechanical circulatory support, the topics discussed in this course will help prepare students for the application of them. The subjects discussed will include the various types of support, the history of the field, cannulation strategies, and current trends. The types of mechanical support that will be discussed include IABP, VADs, ECMO, TAH, Impella, and what each might look like.
