PRTW 317 - 001 NR- Kayaking I
This pool course prepares kayakers for river running by introducing students to equipment, paddle and roll techniques, bracing, wet exits, rescues and river safety. Students should have the ability to confidently swim 25 yards and maintain a moderate level of activity for 2 hours. Class meets on January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, and 23. Thursdays 6-8 pm, Pool B. PRTW 340 - 001 Backcountry Yoga
This introductory class is designed for students to unplug, let go, and find their Zen in a nature-based setting. The course will focus on forgetting about "what's next," making the onnection between mind, body and spirit, and how we can more freely do this in nature by having a full sensory experience through sights, sounds, smells, etc. Students will also learn about camping (with Leave No Trace) and making healthy lifestyle choices. Students will have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills to enjoy entry level paddleboarding, hiking, as well as practicing yoga both on land and on the water. Overnight camping, outdoor cooking, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding will be covered in this class. Class meets on-campus on Mar. 21 only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory.
