PRTW 1313 - 001 NR-Canoe Lake Powell


The basics of lake canoeing are covered. Students will explore resource and user conflicts, wilderness ethics, geology, ecology, and land-management issues. Overnight camping. Class meets on-campus on Sep. 26th only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Students will learn about board design, construction, repair, paddle shape, and other paddleboarding related features. Skill sessions will focus on fundamental paddleboarding skills including, stance, balance, paddle techniques, stance transitions, how to fall, and associated water risk management skills. Class meets Aug. 31st only. Field trip Sep. 23 to Sep. 25. Overnight camping.
