Description
Science is gaining a greater understanding of the aging process, and with that knowledge comes the realization that nutritional needs change as you age. Older folks absorb nutrients less easily, enzyme production changes, and the need for protein actually increases. In this class we will do a quick review of basic good nutrition, then look specifically at why nutritional needs change around age 50 and how you can adjust your eating habits to optimize your health. We'll look at nutrients' role in disease prevention, maintaining brain power and mental health, and in treating ailments common to older people such as insomnia, depression, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, eye disease, and prostate and breast cancer,
