LLPOT 685 - American Indian Art of the Northeast and Plains

Working primarily with beads, feathers, and leather, American Indians of the Northeast and Plains created a legacy of art, weapons, and clothing of incredible beauty and ingenuity. In this class, held in conjunction with the Utah Museum of Fine Art's exhibition of American Indian Art from the Warnock collection, we will explore the life styles of these groups both before and after contact with Europeans. Our exploration will focus on their adaptation to new environments, spiritual life, and the function of art in their cultures. Participants will view the exhibit as part of class.
