OSHER 660 - Frontiers of Physics

Renowned faculty from The University of Utah Physics Department will review current cutting edge research. Topics include nanoscience, the study of structures - both natural and man-made - that are a thousand times smaller than a human hair; the discovery of planets outside of our solar system and whether they might be hospitable to life; and medical imaging - how the properties of ordinary water at the very smallest scale (the atomic nucleus) are used to make detailed images of the brain, heart, and other body systems.
