Description
The subject of food and sex features deliciously and sensuously in the films of Asia and its diaspora. This course introduces the theme of food, sex, and the body in the films of Asia. We will take an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing the politics and poetics of food, sex, and the body in filmic representations. Some of the films include: Ang Lee, "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman", Juzo Itami, "Tampopo", and Tran Anh Hung, "The Scent of Green Papaya" and more.
