Description
Winter brings out photographic opportunities that are completely different from other seasons. Unusual designs abound in both snow and ice, animal tracks are easily visible, trees and rivers take on other-worldly forms, and low-angle winter lighting bathes it all in dramatic tones and shadows. Learn to capture these images as we explore both the technical and aesthetic aspects of winter photography. In class and during Saturday snowshoe trips in the Wasatch Mountains, you will learn to control your camera's operation to achieve your desired technical results while building composition and visual skills to match your vision. Please bring the digital or film camera (with film) of your choice to the first class; please be familiar with the basic workings of your camera. Please bring snowshoes and boots suitable for snow (rentable at REI or through the U's Outdoor Program, among others) to Saturday meetings. Students will be notified where to meet.
