ELI 776 - College Success I

A college preparation course in which students will read university-level articles independently, listen to both video and live lectures, and participate in class discussion of topic-related material. The key skills of listening and note-taking will be emphasized. Some groups will take field trips or see lectures related to the topics in the text, observe university classes, or work on projects that require data collection/interviewing native speakers. Note that this is a content-based course, and as part of the bridge course, the purpose is to provide a transition from ESL to regular, university-type classes. Therefore, the focus will be subject-oriented, as much as possible.
