Description
Statutory and constitutional law designed or invoked to protect employees from discrimination based on race, gender, religion, age, disability, and sexual orientation. Examines recent debates in Congress and in the Supreme Court about the meaning of discrimination, the role of statistics in proving discrimination, and affirmative action. Additional topics are pay equity and comparable worth theory, work/family conflict, and sexual harassment. Attention will be paid to new theories for addressing discrimination, based on age and disability, as well as on intersectional factors (such as race combined with gender).
