Description
An apprenticeship workshop designed to teach students not only how their bicycles work, but also how to keep them working. Students will learn what are the most critical and valuable upgrades, repair techniques, and methods of bicycle overhaul. Physical concepts such as torque and rotational inertia will help us understand the keys to keeping our wheels and brakes in top condition, and we will learn how and why weather conditions change bike maintenance techniques. Students will work in partnership with the 'Bike Collective'- an organization committed to providing in refurbished bicycles and sustainable forms of transportation to families in need. This community-oriented workshop will culminate in a 'Critical Mass' bike ride on our newly overhauled bicycles!
