Description
Based on the National Award winning book, 'The Omnivore's Dilemma', students will set out to follow the natural history of everyday meals. This hands-on workshop will involve a close examination of the unsettling truths behind popular food culture and the perils of the fast food epidemic. Students will meet local farmers and food vendors, learn what is behind the 'buying green' scene, practice artful and conscientious food preparation and handling, dabble in disease and microorganisms that either enhance our food or infect us and prepare the Perfect Meal to share on the last day of the workshop with family and friends as an offering of health and awareness. This exploration will both surprise and engage, while prompting you to think about food in new ways.
