LLWRC 800 - Dialogue Workshop

Among other things, dialogue can set tone, reveal character, establish scene, and move action forward?important roles in fiction and nonfiction alike. Improve your ability to use this powerful tool in this two-meeting workshop. When and how should one use dialogue? How can it be at once realistic, efficient, and meaningful? We will read and discuss dialogue in several short pieces with an eye to the writer's craft, then use exercises and writing assignments to help us create vital dialogue in our own prose. Felicia is a past president of Writers at Work and served on the literary advisory board to the Utah Arts Council. She won the Utah Writer's Contest in 2000 and the Utah Arts Council Original Writing Award in 2003 (short story collection); her stories have been published in Glimmer Train, Quarterly West, and Western Humanities Review.
