Description
Participate in two all day field trips to discover the importance of our wetlands and the inhabitants that reside there, particularly during the winter months. Our first trip will be to the Farmington Bay wildlife Management Area to see the bald eagles and other birds that winter there. Then we will continue on to Layton to visit the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve (owned by the Nature Conservancy) to see first hand the structure of a natural wetland. Our second trip will be spent visiting the Bear River Bird Refuge near Brigham City to further our knowledge of wetlands and the birds that depend on this resource, in particular, the tundra swans. A pre- trip meeting will answer questions regarding recommended clothing, equipment (a good pair of binoculars), and carpooling. Participants should plan on $5 per trip to cover carpooling expenses.
