Description
This course provides an overview of basic concepts in medical and healthcare informatics. These core concepts include an introduction to the foundational theory and practical application of clinical decision making; computerized decision support; healthcare systems and their organization; the special issues of administration, security, and operations of electronic records in the healthcare setting; human factors issues; information science in the biomedical domain; imaging informatics; tele-health technology; public health informatics; standards, terminologies, and the uniqueness of biomedical data; and a special focus on emerging technologies. (Required for all biomedical informatics graduate students.)
