Description
This course covers a wide range of topics that relate to public purchasing, including some comparisons between private and public purchasing. After completing this course, the student will have a general understanding of why and how public purchasing is organized, regulated, and processed on a daily basis. The student will leave with an overall understanding of purchasing regulations on a state and local level and better understand the roles of public purchasing professionals as they relate to citizens, other government employees, and the business community. Interested students include entry level government buyers or others seeking employment in public purchasing, employees who are interested in transitioning from private to public purchasing, and purchasing professionals who are preparing for the A.P.P. or C.P.M. certification exams. This is an elective class for the Purchasing and Supply Management Certificate Program and is endorsed by NAPM UTAH.
