Description
Take an aesthetic journey with professional artists and the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Learn to draw using the permanent collection at the museum as a reference source. Make a sketchbook and fill it with drawings of ancient figures, historical landscapes, angels, and saints! You will learn all the elements of design and color theory while using pencil (graphite), prismacolor pencils, pastels, charcoal, watercolors, acrylic paints sculpture, and scratch knife on silver and black scratchboard. Join the fun at a student class exhibit. Bring a snack and water bottle each day. Co-sponsored with the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Creative Sculpture Learn about the ins and outs of working with clay and other matterials to make 3-D art. Using the Augustin Rodin exhibit as a reference, we will make monumental sculptures out of clay. Clay has many different properties; it can be squishy like mud, rubbery like putty, or hard as a rock! Learn about this earthy substance and how to manipulate it to your will. Once the masterpieces are created, it's time to decorate with interesting tools, techniques, colors, and glazing. Drawing Discover the exciting world of art at the Museum of Fine Arts. Explore elements of design, and stimulate your imagination using the art at the museum. Learn a variety of drawing techniques while learning to sketch amazing characters (yourself!) and others. Complete projects that help you draw what you see. Painting Create memorable masterpieces while discovering the fundamentals of design, color, and composition. Students will stimulate their imaginations as they utilize and practice with a variety of basic painting techniques and mediums. Paint representational objects from nature, animals, or still life. Travel into the unknown and paint pure designs or perhaps the subjects of your daydreams. Print Making Make an invitation for the final exhibit for your parents on the last day of class at 11:15 am.
