Description
Ever been hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, or white water river running in Utah? Come learn about the injuries and illnesses that are most prevalent in backcountry sports and activities in this recreationally diverse state. Wilderness Medicine of Utah offers the Basic Wilderness Life Support (BWLSTM) program to train and prepare young outdoor enthusiasts in prevention, treatment, and evacuation techniques for medical problems in the backcountry. Experienced outdoor medical experts will teach both classroom and practical skills sessions. Classroom instruction will be held at the campus. Then head down for a night of camping and rafting in Moab, Utah where the practical skills sessions will be taught. Students who pass the written and practical skills exam will be awarded the Basic Wilderness Life Support Certificate (BWLSTM). A full packing list and meals will be provided for the overnight camping experience.
