LLREC 679 - Mountaineering

Learn the basics of mountaineering, from steep snow/moderate-ice climbing and descent techniques to self and group arrest and crevasse rescue. We'll also study rope management, route finding, and avalanche forecasting with an emphasis on safe climbing and mountaineering. Students will learn in a relaxed, noncompetitive, team-oriented environment. Ice ax and crampons are required for the field session; they may be rented.
