UGS 1290 - Evoluation of Western Technology

The development of western technology from the Bronze Age to the end of the 19th century will be examined from both the science and humanities perspectives. The humanities section will emphasize the interaction of technology, knowledge, and society. Major technoloical advances will be analyzed and interpreted in terms of their impact on society. The lessons of history will be applied to understand current conflicts between technology and society.
