Description
Advanced Practice IV is a second-year course related to advanced clinical practice with couples and families. Theories evolving from marital and family therapy are introduced as aids in understanding the complexity of family systems with both their strengths and dysfunctional aspects. The developmental levels of individuals within a given client-system is considered a key element in assessment that helps the practitioner to determine which theories and models will provide the most effective interventions for a couple or family within its own developmental stage as a system. Application to direct work with couples and families is the focus of experiential components of the course.
