Description
This course is a four-week basic science to bedside, deep examination of cardiovascular physiology, pathology and pharmacology. These complex topics require dedicated time to explore fundamentals. Cardiovascular disease is ubiquitous and understanding the basic science nuances and its application at the bedside is paramount for most physicians in their clinical practice. Students will sequentially analyze cardiovascular topics to facilitate an understanding of pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease and its impact on patients. The course will consist of flipped classroom didactics, problem-based learning, team-based learning, simulation activities, journal club, hands-on lab and a variety of clinical experiences.
