Description
This course is designed to provide an overview of the underpinnings that form the basis of scientific inquiry and knowledge growth within the context of historical, social, global, ethical, and theoretical perspectives. Learners will explore philosophical systems from empirical and positivist views to interpretive and constructivist perspectives. The history and application of theory, including nursing theory, will be covered, as well as components of theory construction and levels of theory. The philosophy of paradigm shifts and impact on knowledge development will be introduced.
