Description
This course introduces the theory and applications of nanophotonic devices built with high refractive index contrast, especially those based on silicon. Topics include waveguides, couplers, resonators, photonic crystals, and nonlinear optical devices. Both analytical and numerical techniques for device design will be discussed. A few cutting-edge research topics will be discussed, including devices based on emerging materials and integrated optical computing systems.
