PRTL 120 - 070 NR-Outdoor Cooking&Camp


Everything tastes better when cooking outdoors! Stir up some delicious food while learning multiple cooking techniques and tools: two-burner stoves, whisperlight backpacking stoves, canister stoves, and/or dutch ovens. Students will camp at a front-range campground and learn about campsite selection, camping equipment, and how to prepare for their own camping adventure. Class meets on-campus on April 1 only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Field experience will be April 18-20. Backpacking and camping in the desert of Southern Utah is an experience not to be missed. You will learn skills required for overnight backpacking including backcountry skills, resource management issues, and environmental ethics associated with backpacking in desert lands. The pre-trip meeting will discuss how and what to pack with a focus on lightening your load. Class meets on-campus on March 18 only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Field experience will be from March 28-30.
