SW 7211 - Introduction to Analysis

This first course in the year-long statistics sequence provides students with theoretical and practical understanding of the logic and application of methods of statistical analyses. Emphasis is on the rational and interpretation of statistical methods used for introductory to intermediate data analysis. Students will learn how to choose the most appropriate statistical procedures for detecting important group differences or relationships. The course includes evaluation of the characteristics of data, descriptive and correlation statistical analyses, hypotheses testing using inferential statistics (e.g., regression and ANOVA), and parametric and non=parametric approaches to hypotheses testing. This course uses the SPSS for Windows computerized statistical package for data processing and analysis.
