SW 7123 - Scholarly Writing and the Critical Review of Academic Literature III

This semester students will consolidate the lessons learned previously and will complete revision of their manuscript, which will be submitted for publication. We will discuss how to choose a journal, respond to revise and resubmit decisions and interact with editors. They may also work on their research (and teaching?) statements in preparation for the job search. The work prepared for this class may link with the students’ work for their qualifying examinations. (1) Academic Discourse: students will submit a manuscript for publication and discuss the distinct aspects involved in drafting a complex analytic paper (2) Writing Practice: Close reading. Students will complete and submit their manuscripts, which will be workshopped in class. Evaluation will be based on successful completion of research (& teaching?) statements, manuscript, peer reviews.
