OC TH 6413 - Occupational Therapy Process - Adults III

This course is structured under the organizing practice model of PEO and incorporates PNF and the Biomechanical/Rehabilitative models in order to frame assessment, treatment, and evidence-based practice when working with clients who have orthopedic disorders. Students will learn to interview and assess a client’s occupational profile, select appropriate outcome measures, plan and implement treatment, and evaluate evidence related to best practice for clients. Interventions will include energy conservation/work simplification/joint protection/pacing, adaptations to ADL’s A/E, transfers/bed mobility, HEP, dynamic splinting, static splinting, prosthesis, ergonomics, PAMS (thermal), edema management, therapeutic taping. Clinical reasoning, occupation-based practice, and client-centered care will be taught and threaded through course activities and assignments.
