OSHER 268 - Who Wrote Shakespeare

The authorship question as to "Who Wrote Shakespeare?" has been an issue since Shakespeare first wrote-anything! In this course, we dive headlong into the matter. Shakespeare himself demanded anonymity. Why? We will learn the names of the major contenders. We will read their writings and interpret their histories. We will read writings attributed to Shakespeare and use all of this information to investigate the question of "Who Wrote Shakespeare?". It is a fascinating mystery and its solution is found in the history of the times, the skills of writers of the times, and the conclusions which can be reached from studying those human beings who most likely include the person who called himself Shakespeare.
