Description
Reading the text or watching a performance of Shakespeare is great, but reading the plays aloud with friends is even better! In this class, we will select one to four of the "easier" (shorter, more accessible) plays to read aloud as an amateur dramatis personae (cast). The instructor will give a brief introduction to some of the most salient aspects of the plays. Participants will volunteer for part(s) and "lightly" rehearse. Then it's show time! No acting experience required--just a willingness to explore both the sound and sense of these timeless masterpieces of theater. Plays under consideration are Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, The Taming of the Shrew, and Macbeth (in which we will make Birnam Wood come to Dunsinane).
