Description
The fourth in a series of six clinical courses, this course provides additional opportunity for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student to increase expertise in application of evidence based on didactic knowledge and clinical skills in the provision of psychiatric mental health care. Emphasis is placed on beginning development of psychopharmacology decision-making, expansion of interviewing and communication skills and applying principles of differential diagnosis. Focus also includes enhancement of psychotherapy skills and beginning development of a plan of care in the management of mental illness to include both psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Consideration of mental health promotion concepts as well as interpretation of exam findings and laboratory results is expected.
