DENT 7262 - Restorative Technology

This is an introductory course in restorative dental technology. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the rationale, advantages and limitations of digital impressions in clinical practice. Students will be introduced to multiple systems in order to compare technologies. Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Milling (CAD/CAM), along with 3-D Printing and their use in the fabrication of indirect dental restorations and the interrelationship of these technologies with Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) and digitally generated surgical guides for implant placement will also be covered. As a pre-requisite to this course, students must have successfully completed Fixed Prosthodontics I (DENT 7163, 5 credit hours, summer semester), Fixed Prosthodontics II (DENT 7230, 4 credit hours, fall semester) and Fixed Prosthodontics III (DENT 7257, 5 credit hours, spring semester).
