Description
This course is structured under the organizing practice model of PEO and incorporates the Biomechanical/Rehabilitative and COOP models in order to frame assessment, treatment, and evidence-based practice for clients with neuromuscular disorders and spinal cord injury. Students will learn to interview and assess a client’s occupational profile, select appropriate outcome measures, plan and implement treatment, and evaluate evidence related to best practices for clients. Interventions will include energy conservation/work simplification/joint protection/pacing, ADL Adaptations, transfers/bed mobility, home exercise programs, managing lines, dysphagia, and home safety evaluations. Clinical reasoning, occupation-based practice, and client-centered care will be taught and threaded through course activities and assignments.
