Description
Intermediate Ambulatory Care and Inpatient Simulation for Women's Health Care Providers is a progression of NURS 7108, designed to expand knowledge and skills learned in preceding program didactic courses and clinical and simulation experiences. This course offers students the opportunity to practice more complex ambulatory care and inpatient clinical scenarios in a safe, constructive, and challenging environment. The course will follow the NWM/WHNP program of study, mirroring the topics covered in the other specialty courses. Students will actively participate in the care of simulated patients under the guidance of simulation faculty and will synthesize their learning in group activities before and after the clinical scenarios. These experiences are designed to facilitate student integration of didactic knowledge into clinical practice. Students will apply and further develop knowledge and skills they have learned in prerequisite courses to simulations of varying levels of complexity and acuity with themes such as provider-patient communication, management of clinic flow, postpartum depressing and infections, term and preterm labor triage, abnormal uterine bleeding, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
