RHSCI 7100 - Translational Research in Rehabilitation II

Rehabilitation research spans the translational spectrum from discovery of fundamental biological, physiologic and behavioral mechanisms of disease and disability through clinical trials and implementation of strategies to help impacted individuals and their caregivers restore function and quality of life. Rehabilitation research is relevant to all points of the lifespan and covers all racial/ethnic, gender and socioeconomic groups. The complex nature of rehabilitation research raises unique considerations for research design and methods. This 2-course sequence examines these issues in the context of T1 - T4 translational research. Part I of this 2-course sequence RHSCI 7000 (Translational Research in Rehabilitation I) introduces concepts for rehabilitation translational research and issues specific to T1 and T2 translational stages focused on fundamental biologic and physiologic mechanisms underlying response to injury and rehabilitation interventions. This course, part II in the sequence, focuses on principles related to T3/T4 translation emphasizing translation of findings from research in controlled environments into clinical practice and population health.
