Description
The rationale and process for developing occupation-based programs either in the community or reaching out to the community at the population level will be explored in-depth. Using community-engaged learning principles, student pairs will identify, explore, and complete a needs assessment, and develop a community-based, occupation-centered program with a program evaluation component. Factors to be considered will be service delivery models, social and occupational justice perspectives, family and caregiver dynamics, health promotion, professional communication skills, and current evidence relevant to the population and context of each new program developed by the students. The fieldwork experience will be completed in a rural area or with an urban community agency assisting an under-served population.
