OSHER 907 - Artistic Geniuses: Their Writings and Art

This course will explore the writings and art of six great artists: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Benvenuto Cellini, Louise-Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun, Vincent Van Gogh, and Norman Rockwell. These creative geniuses are among the few artists who shed light on their work by writing about it. Select readings from the writings of each of these artists will be assigned and discussed to gain unique insights into the artists' motives and interpretations through their writing and art.
