LING 6010 - Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology

Introduction to the sounds of the world's spoken languages, with a focus on their articulatory, acoustic, and perceptual properties. Analysis of the systematic organization of speech sounds in the world's languages. Additional topics may include the phonetics and phonology of signed languages, the acquisition of phonetics and phonology by children and adults, and social variation in language production and comprehension.
