LLART 409 - Silk Painting: An Introduction

Silk is by far the most luxurious canvas with which one could hope to work. Join us to learn three different techniques for painting and dying on this beautiful material. You'll start by learning serti technique, an age-old method of using resist to create a design. Then paint directly onto a pillowcase with thickened dye to create any pattern you choose. Finally, you'll use drip technique to create starburst patterns for a unique scarf you can wear for years to come. By the end of class, you'll be the envy of all your friends with at least two unique silk scarves and a beautiful silk pillowcase, all hand made by you!
