PRTL 1120 - 001 NR-Outdoor Cooking&Camp


This course focuses on outdoor cooking and camping at a front-range campground. Students will learn about different cooking techniques and tools, such as a two-burner stove, whisperlight backpacking stoves, canister stoves, and/or dutch ovens. Students will learn about campsite selection, camping equipment, and how to prepare for their own camping adventures. Class meets on-campus on July 11th only. Attendance at first class meeting is mandatory. Field experience will be July 21st-23rd. Move beyond taking photos with your phone and learn the basics of landscape photography while exploring one of the many scenic areas Utah has to offer. Locations change each semester and will be announced at the beginning of each semester. Overnight (car) camping and hiking will be a part of this class. Students will need a camera with full manual exposure capabilities to be able to participate and complete course assignments (film or digital). For more info, contact Dan Smith, dan.k.smith@utah.edu.
