LAW 7925 - Externship Credit

An externship is an opportunity for students to earn academic credit while working under the supervision and guidance of a practicing attorney or judge. Through externships, students are exposed to different areas of practice and the courts, learn substantive law, develop lawyering skills, and build their understanding of lawyers' roles and professional responsibility. Most first-time externs will enroll in two credits of the companion course, Learning from Practice. Most students taking a subsequent externship will enroll in 1 credit of Advanced Learning from Practice. Students in this course must work at least 50 hours per credit hour at the externship site. The course is pass/fail and capped at 14 total credits before graduation. Counts toward the experiential education requirement.
