MUSC 6550 - Advanced Formal Procedures of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries I

Overview of several analytical approaches, methodologies, and theories of music of the common-practice period. Primary readings from major theorists as well as secondary readings on a variety of analytical and theoretical topics will serve as an introduction to concepts/theories relating to harmony, tonality, rhythm and meter, and others.
