HIST 7650 - Colloquium in the History of American Slavery

This course explores the history of slavery in the United States, from the colonial era to the Civil War. Students will be exposed to key academic debates that have shaped the field of slavery-related history. While the course primarily focuses on the historiography of slavery in the colonial and early United States, we will also pay considerable attention to how slavery in America developed from, and compared to, slavery in its wider Atlantic World context.
