LLART 96 - Introduction to Studio Lighting: Off-Camera Flash

Sometimes you need a little extra lighting to achieve a properly exposed image, but using electronic flash units mounted on top of your DSLR can produce contrasty, stark or flat photos. Luckily, it's easy to vastly improve your results by moving the flash off-camera. Learn how to use off-camera lighting, and also light modifiers--umbrellas, softboxes, grids, etc.--that will give your images a professional look. Speedlights can give you the same look as pro studio lighting, and have the added advantage of no cables or cords to manage. Through demonstrations of off-camera lighting techniques and hands-on applications of lessons learned, you'll bring your photography to a whole new level... in a flash! Students will need a DSLR or mirrorless system camera equipped with a hot shoe and a memory card. Please be familiar with the workings of your camera. Special fee is for equipment use.
