LLART 320 - How to Carve a Woodblock Print

Create your own beautiful relief print! This one-day workshop will cover the basics of carving and printing woodblock prints. The instructor will demonstrate how to tone and seal your block (and explain the importance of this step), and discuss how to transfer images onto the block. Participants will be introduced to their new carving tools and how to safely handle them. Then, students will try their new tools on a small 6" x 8" matrix which they will print on Kozo papers by hand, using the press.
